Dawn, to me, can be just as beautiful as a sunset, but you have to obviously plan ahead to wake up early to catch ‘her‘ when she ‘wakes up‘.
Dawn heralds in a new day of new adventures waiting just ahead for everyone. I was lucky enough to have had to wake up early, if you call that lucky, because I had to walk to my job from Sojeve Village, Kosovo where I lived. I am definitely not a morning person especially before coffee; however, by having to wake up early for my morning foot commute I was able to witness a few very beautiful sunrises. Why the colors vary, I am not sure. Maybe it is just the dawns mood for that particular day.
We had a blackout in the village when I took this photograph and the setting provided a great opportunity to capture the break of dawn with my destination still illuminated.
This break of dawn was taken from my work area.

Dawn slowly creeps in with a display of beautiful color
The next photo was taken during my walk just at the beginning of dawn. It was taken with my cell phone camera so the quality isn’t as good, but I was able to catch the vivid colors which caught my eye.

Taken at the crack of dawn the colors were so surreal and vivid this day
While flying from Bangkok to Vienna I looked out my window to check out lights below and saw that Dawn was chasing us. It’s difficult to snap a photograph through the windows of an aircraft as most people will know, but I loved the colors and tried. I thought this was a great representation of what I saw.

Dawn breaching the horizon between Bangkok and Vienna
And then in my favorite place on earth, Thailand, I woke up early and looked out my hotel room just in time to see the last moments of the night in Bangkok and the dawn of a brand new day making its appearance. I was lucky enough to have this photo published on the BBC Website “Your Pictures – Thailand”

Dawn Comes Up As Bangkok’s Night Prepares To Sleep
Dawn is a time when your surroundings are still very quiet and is a great time to watch nature unfold and put on spectacular color shows for all the early birds. “Worms” are not the only thing you can catch when you wake up early. :-)

I love this post. I’ve always preferred dawn to sunset. More promising! I’m glad I seem to be more of a natural morning person. Although I like to watch the sunset from a beach bar with a cocktail in my hand, I’ll always prefer the light of dawn when the sun rises!

I agree with you dawn versus sunset. For me it’s usually so quiet. The photo I go published that’s on my website was taken at the beginning of dawn in Bangkok and it was really beautiful. I am not really a morning person per say and actually woke up for whatever reason to catch that. I love dawn near a beach. That’s my favorite.
